AMPA PROGRAM
MUSICAL THEATER
AMPA produces two musicals each year: a small ensemble show in the campus Black Box Theater in the first semester and a full-scale mainstage production during the second semester.
Full-length musicals are performed in the 600-seat Norm Pattiz Concert Hall with an all-student pit orchestra under the direction of music director Jim Foschia. Combined disciplines of acting, vocals, and choreography, AMPA musical productions have enjoyed a reputation of excellence for over 30 years achieving a long list of honors and recognition including the John Raitt Awards for Best Production, Best Director, and Best Student Orchestra, The Jerry Herman Award for Best Student Orchestra and Best Actress as well as a multitude of awards from the prestigious National Youth Theater.
