AMPA STUDENTS
9-12 WITH A PASSION FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
The Academy of Music and Performing Arts engages and supports students in grades 9-12 who have a passion for the performing arts. We seek to prepare students who come to AMPA from all across Los Angeles to make informed future educational and career choices by immersing them in challenging and rigorous performance programs which are fused with academics, evolving technologies, and professional experiences. AMPA welcomes students from area public as well as private and independent middle schools. The academy is an LAUSD magnet program which is proud to share location as one of six distinguished small learning communities including the celebrated Humanities Magnet on the campus of Alexander Hamilton High School located on south Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Eighty percent of students are admitted through the LAUSD Choices application process. Twenty percent of admissions are reserved for audition placement. Auditions take place during the Spring semester. Dates and times will be announced and posted on our website and socials. AMPA is an open and diverse institution, but there is limited space and we encourage you to visit and apply early.
